EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & CE0

Alana Hitchcock

Appointed Executive Director and CEO for 211 California in January 2023, Alana Hitchcock is an experienced cross-sector leader with deep knowledge of the 211 system and statewide policy areas. Most recently, Alana spent 6 years as a leader at local nonprofit 211 LA, where she built programs, launched online services that assisted over 1 million people in 2022, created public data portals, and rallied the community to keep 211 services locally run and human-centered. Previously, Alana ran a social enterprise business working with artisans and nonprofits in Thailand that was recognized by UN Women for empowering women through social enterprise. For the State, she worked with Caltrans, developing community-based planning visions for economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable regions, and was an Executive Fellow in the Capital Fellowship Program.

Alana has lived and worked across the state of California, from rural counties to Los Angeles and San Diego. Alana’s Public Administration studies at the University of Southern California embedded a cross-sector approach to tackling our deepest social challenges, which she has brought to her work in all three sectors.
