On June 23, 2026, the Senate Emergency Management Committee on a unanimous 9-0 vote, earning enthusiastic bipartisan support and two new Senate Co-Authors in the process.
The unanimous vote reflects the growing recognition of 211 as a critical component of California's emergency preparedness and response infrastructure.
Hearing Highlights:
Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom presented AB 1832 to the Senate Emergency Management Committee on June 23.
Committee members praised the bill and the testimony for clearly illustrating how 211 complements California's emergency response system, connecting people to critical information and services while freeing 911 to focus on life-threatening emergencies.
